Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate a fatal wreck that resulted in a Brundidge man being charged with the murder of his brother.

Fabian Texcahua, 21 of Brundidge, remains in the Pike County Jail after losing control of his vehicle early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of his younger brother Luiz Texcahua, 20.

Trooper Spokesman Kevin Cook said initial investigation indicates Fabian was traveling above the posted speed limit and that alcohol was a factor in the incident.

Due to rainy weather conditions, investigators were unable to conduct skid tests to determine the vehicle’s speed Monday, but Cook said those tests will be a part of the investigation.

In addition, Fabian’s blood was drawn at Troy Regional Medical Center, and Cook said those labs have been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to be tested for alcohol content.

Cook said it may be the end of the month before those results are back.

Fabian has been charged with murder by the state, based on what was found in the investigation.

“It all depends on the trooper investigating and what he finds at the scene,” Cook said. “From what I was told, it was pretty much cut and dry what happened so the troopers got the OK from the District Attorney’s office to charge him.”

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when the two were traveling on County Road 5520, and Fabian lost control of the vehicle. His brother was ejected from the passenger’s window and pronounced dead on scene by Pike County Coroner Jerry Williams.

Cook said he is unsure where the two were traveling.

Fabian’s bond has been set at $50,000.
