Troy’s Pre-Minor Tournament team was at it again Saturday afternoon. Troy racked up another 22 hits for the Miracle Field fund in a 16-1 win over the Greenville Americans in Troy.

“Our guys were more relaxed today and they were hitting the ball better and playing great defense,” Troy head coach Frank Scarbrough said. “They really came out and played great tonight.”

There was only one batter for Troy who struck out yesterday in a 16-2 win over Luverne and no Trojans struck out in Saturday’s contest.

But Scarbrough said the boys were not worried about the score or the outcome of the game, they were worried about something else.

“They were all figuring out how many hits they had and how much money they raised today,” he said. “And that is what we want them focusing on. As long as they keep staying up for Miracle League it will be good for our team.”

The Pre-Minor team is playing for the Troy Miracle Field fund. Each of the boys is sponsored and for each hit the boys get that sponsor will donate a certain amount of money to the Miracle Field fund.

In the game Saturday, Troy jumped out in front with seven runs in the first inning. Tristen Carter, De’Quavian Toney, Daniel Phillips, Brock Huner, Will Reeves, Jackson Giles and Cody Hollis each scored in the first inning. Colby Williams made the Troy lead 8-0 when he scored in the second inning.

Troy broke the game open with another seven runs in the third inning.

Phillips, Huner, Reeves, Laertis Brantley, Hollis, Lawson Scarbrough and Williams each scored in the third inning. Carter scored the final run of the game for Troy in the fourth inning. Greenville scored one run in the bottom of the fourth.

Up next for Troy is a meeting with the Greenville Nationals at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The Greenville Americans face Eufaula at 4 p.m. in an elimination game.
