The Troy Belles put on a hit and run show Friday night in the opening round of the sub-district tournament in Troy. Troy beat Abbeville’s all-stars 24-0 in four innings.

The offense was obvious by looking at the scoreboard, but Troy head coach Steve Finlayson pointed to another statistic after the game.

“We didn’t give up but one hit all night,” Finlayson said. “These girls made this game look easy and it will only get harder from here on.”

Conleigh Gilmore led the offensive charge that included four players with three hits. Gilmore was 3-for-3 with eight RBIs and three runs scored.

“I was seeing some nice pitches today,” Gilmore said. “They were good speed and perfect for hitting over the fence, but unfortunately I did not get one over. Getting those RBIs was great for the team and not just me. I am excited for tomorrow’s game.”

Hannah Fountain, Tori Outlaw and Mary-Michael Dunn were also 3-for-3 in the game. Alli Ellis was 2-for-2 and Brook Hudson went 2-for-3.

“Everyone contributed and it was great to see teamwork like that,” Steve Finlayson said. “They showed a lot of teamwork and had fun doing it.”

Troy jumped out early and scored 11 runs in the first inning. Madison Mchaffey, Fountain, Outlaw, Becca Hartley, Stephanie Finlayson, Ellis, Kristen Finlayson, Gilmore, Brittany Golden and Dunn scored in the first.

Troy’s Belles added four runs in the second for a 15-0 lead. Stephanie Finlayson, Ellis, Gilmore and Hudson each crossed the plate.

The Trojans scored nine runs in the third and one in the fourth before Abbeville conceded the game.
