Una Tolbert

Services for Una V. Tolbert, 92, who died Friday, June 12, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at New Shiloh Missonary Baptist Church in Troy, with Rev. Dr. L.C. McMillian officiating.
Burial will follow at the Carroll Street Cemetary in Troy, under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home in Troy.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009 at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home in Troy.
Una. V. Tolbert was born the second child of Mr. Harvey Jones (deceased) and Johnnie Mae Banks (deceased) on July 25, 1916, in Pike County.
She received Christ at Mount Hillard Missionary Baptist Church in Pike County. She later united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor G. H. Smith. She served at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for more than 60 years as a faithful member.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, her parents and three children, Mary H. McCullough, Willie Deek Jones and Charles Edward Jones.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: a loving sister, Ruby Simms; her children, Laura M. Austin (Cavin), Charlie J. Simmons, Willie F. Jones (Delores), Martha J. Layden (Richardo), Carolyn D. Tolbert and Jim Tolbert (Twanna); one adopted son, L.K. Ikner; one son-in-law, Roosevelt McCullough; eighteen grandchildren, fifteen greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
