Belles toll in Troy June 26

Confidence is the name of the game for any sport and the Troy Dixie Belles Tournament team is full of it. But the Belles do not cross the fine line between confident and arrogant.

“We are fully confident in ourselves,” Becca Hartley said. “We have been working hard every day and we hope to do good this summer. We want to go all the way to the World Series.”

Any team can have confidence, but the Belles are working on team unity to go along with that confidence.

“We all stayed over at Conleigh Gilmore’s house the other day and we went bowling as a team last week,” Hartley said.

A desire to get past the first round is what fuels Troy’s Belles.

“It feels good to play with these girls and we really want to get deep into the district tournament or further this year,” Brooke Hudson said.

Head coach Steve Finlayson has seen that desire and determination so far in practice.

“It is unusual to get the whole group to hustle, but this group is just like that,” Finlayson said. “They have been practicing aggressively and practicing hard to get better.”

The Belles open sub-district play June 26 against Abbeville at 8 p.m. in Troy.
