The Southern District of Alabama Bankruptcy Court approved Tuesday the sale of Hendricks Building Supply to Townsend Building Supply, of Enterprise.

Townsend, which began in Chipley, Fla., will open for business in the former Troy and Ozark Hendricks locations on Monday.

“I think what’s most important that the communities of Troy and Ozark will have continued operations from people who have traditionally run a good business in their own town,” said Ken Henricks, owner of Hendricks Building Supply.

Townsend Building Supply is another family-owned business with similar products, owned by Dale Townsend and two sons Michael and Turner Townsend.

“We are very excited about this opportunity and look forward to becoming an integral part of both the Troy and Ozark communities,” the owners said in a press release Tuesday.

The release states most employees, including Troy’s store manager Steve Hemendinger, have agreed to continue working in the stores.

“There will be differences in the way we do business, but we will try to change things in a way as to not disrupt our service to the customer,” the release said.

The Troy store is closed in Troy until Monday, so owners can restock inventory and update the computer systems.

The Townsend businesses have been in place for 65 years.
