Three Talledega men have been arrested for allegedly burglarizing the Dollar General Store on South Three Notch Street in Troy last week.

Dekota Whitson, 23, Zachery Cheeks, 18, and Deangelo Shears, 24, are said to have allegedly burglarized the local business early last Friday, according to Troy Police Chief Anthony Everage.

Around 4:30 a.m. Friday, Everage said a Troy Police officer noticed the lights off inside the store, though they are typically left on. The officer checked the rear entrance of the building, when he saw the individual attempting to exit the building.

When the person recognized an officer, he ran through the store and out the front door.

Everage said that individual, who was allegedly Whitson, was picked up on Love Street.

Cheeks was found hiding in a 1988 Oldsmobile in the parking lot next to Dollar General, and Shears was later apprehended at a Waffle House on U.S. Highway 231 North.

The three all face charges of burglary third degree with bonds of $15,000.

They were first transported to the Troy Police Department Friday and then later transferred to the Pike County Jail.

Shears is on probation in Talledega County and is being held without bond pending probation revocation proceedings, Everage said.
