Matt Perrigen decisively broke an 8-8 tie Monday in the AISA Senior All-Star Game.

Perrigen blasted a ball over the left field fence of Riddle-Pace Field to put the East all-stars ahead 11-8.

“We really wanted to bunt that guy with first and second in a tie game,” East head coach Tim Fanning said. “But we felt like he was due and we let him swing it and he came up with a three-run bomb.”

Fanning, also the head coach of the Glenwood Gators, turned to his senior pitcher for the save and Stevie Argo closed out the West to preserve the win in the final high school game for all involved.

“That was special for me to watch him come in and close it because has been great for us all year,” Fanning said. “He was a big part of our success and it was great to have him on the mound.”

The AISA Coaches Association put the all-star game on, as well as the junior game earlier in the day and Fanning said the whole association would like to thank Troy.

“They really welcomed us and made us feel like kings for a day,” Fanning said.

No statistics were available from the game.
