A new Brundidge store is a one-stop shop for all local residents’ feed and seed needs.

“We want to supply the needs of the community with a variety of feeds and seeds,” said co-owner of Carter’s Feed and Seed Monty Carter.

The business, which opened May 29, might have the appearance of a home, but its on purpose.

“We wanted to make the store feel like a home, since it’s family-owned and operated,” Carter said.

But, when entering, shoppers can find a variety of items for farms and gardens.

“Farming is in our blood, ever since childhood we farmed and had everything from cows to chickens,” Carter said.

There are feeds and products available for adult and nursery animals, from cows to rabbits.

Some of the shelves are stocked with small animal cages and feeders, egg incubators and even food supplies for domestic animals.

Carter’s Feed and Seed takes part of many aspects of pet ownership, including some over-the-counter pet medication.

Farm and domestic animal care is just one aspect of Carter’s store. Gardening also plays a large role.

Fresh, local, homegrown produce is available for sale alongside a corner of the store, where children can start to learn the basics of gardening.

“We did not want this store to be just for adults. We want children to have something they could enjoy as well,” Carter said.

With garden supplies for the gardener just starting out, to supplies for the active green-thumb, Carter’s Feed and Seed has something for everyone.

“This store is not just for the professional gardener,” Carter said. “It is for everyone from all walks of life.”

Carter’s carries both industrial and organic weed killers and pest control products.

“With a wide range of products there is something for anyone that visits the store,” Carter said.

Store hours for Carter’s Feed and Seed are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and from 7 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday.

The store is closed on Sunday.
