Officers are still seeking a local man facing drug charges, after he led them in a high-speed chase and fled the scene on foot late Wednesday.

Narcotics officers of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and the Troy Police Department were attempting to serve a search warrant to Tevaurus Lightfoot, 26, of Brundidge, when Lightfoot attempted to flee, said Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas.

He allegedly drove his car in reverse on Sara G. Lott Boulevard until he was able to spin around and was chased onto U.S. Highway 231.

For the next three miles, officers attempted to apprehend Lightfoot, who was traveling south. Lightfoot was said to have pulled into a family member’s yard and then fled the scene on foot.

A passenger traveling with Lightfoot, Dawney P. Pruitt, 31, of Brundidge, was taken into custody and transferred to Dale County, where he faces pending drug charges.

Lightfoot, however, is still on the run, Thomas said.

Thomas said during the chase, two bags of crack-cocaine were thrown out the window, along with two scales. A total of 15 grams of cocaine was recovered, Thomas said.

Warrants will be issued today, charging Lightfoot with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pruitt faces no charges locally, just those outstanding from Dale County.

The Alabama State Troopers and the Brundidge Police Department assisted the sheriff’s department.
