Library, which begins June

8.

and young adult librarian,

said programs are

planned for ages 4 through

18, which will be both educational

and lots of fun.

The theme for the summer

program for ages 4

to11 is “Be Creative” and

will include story time,

crafts, movies and games.

The four- and five-yearolds

will be divided into

two groups ,which will

meet on Mondays at either

10 to 11 a.m. or from 2 to 3

p.m. The programs for

children ages six to 11 will

be from 2 until 3 p.m. on

Tuesday, June 9, and will

feature “Ham It Up!” where

the children will be inspired

by acting coach Jenny

Meadows.

“On June 16, we’ll have

beginning drawing with

basic instruction and the

children will be on their

way to creating masterpieces,”

Colvin said. “The

McWane Center in

Birmingham will bring its

Star Dome to Troy on June

23. This event will be by

reservation only and tickets

will go fast. There will be

30-minute sessions at 2,

2:45 and 3:30 p.m.”

On June 30, the summer

library program will present

a visual arts program

that will be a “make and

take” session. Each participant

will be able to make up

to four crafts.

The top readers in the

Troy Public Library

Summer Library Program

will be invited to a special

celebration on July 21.

Reading logs will be due by

July 10 and prizes will be

awarded according to the

total number of books read.

The “Express Yourself”

program for young adults,

ages 12 to18, begins June

10 and concludes July 23.

“IMPROV,” a drama

workshop will be taught by

Meadows on June 11. Game

Day on June 18, will provide

lots of fun, games and

trivia challenges.

“At ‘Project Runaway,’

on June 25, our teens will

present an alternative fashion

show in which they

must use things like bubble

wrap, duct tape, garbage

bags or newspaper to create

stylish clothing,” Colvin

said. These three young

adult programs will be from

2 to 3 p.m. at the library.

“One of our favorite programs

for our young adults

is the Murder Mystery

Lock-In,” Colvin said.

“This summer’s mystery

will be ‘The Diva’s Demise’

from 7 until 9 p.m. on July

16. ‘Detectives’ must investigate

the crime scene and

carefully examine the evidence

in order to solve the

crime.”

Colvin said three additional

Young Adult

Programs were offered but

have been filled.

Beginning Drawing and

Intermediate Drawing with

instructor Aimee Golden

and Screen Printing were

closed last week but Colvin

said the other programs are

also exciting and fun. Those

who would like to participate

in the young adult programs

should register as

soon as possible.

Prizes will be awarded to

top Readers for the Young

Adult Summer Library

Program.
