The “Three on a String” guys have been said to do more with three than most could do with 30.

In April, “Three on a String” was inducted into the Alabama Bluegrass Hall of Fame, a distinction reserved for only the very best in the business. And, the “Three” will be back in Troy by popular demand on June 1.

“Three on a String” will be in concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 1, at the Trojan Center Theater on the campus of Troy University. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students.

“This will be a concert that everyone will enjoy,” said Shadron Graham, assistant to the director of the Johnson Center for the Arts, a concert sponsor. “Not only do they play outstanding music, they are a great comedy act. They are very entertaining and it’s good, clean family entertainment.”

Many people in the area are familiar with ‘String’ member, Bobby Horton, who is recognized as one of the country’s leading authorities on music from the Civil War period.

“Bobby Horton has performed his Civil War programs in this area and a lot of people will remember him from that,” Graham said. “But ‘Three on a String’ is a musical comedy act that will get the audience involved from the start. They interact with the audience in many of the things they do so their show is a lot of fun and one that people will be talking about the next day.”

Graham said “Three on a String” is made up of Jerry Ryan, Brad Ryan and Horton. “They know their business and are anxious to share their good time show,” he said. The three have a varied background including clubs, music festivals, company parties, picnics, conventions, symphony pops concerts and television. “They play to many packed houses because they have a hilariously funny, clean show,” Graham said. “You leave wanting to see them again.”

Tickets for “Three on a String” may be purchased at the Johnson Center for the Arts on East Walnut Street in downtown Troy.

“Three on a String” is presented by the Johnson Center for the Arts and the Troy University College of Communication and Fine Arts.
