Goshen’s title year

The Goshen Eagles’ 4×100-meter relay team took home the state championship at the AHSAA Class 2A state meet Friday in Gulf Shores.

The team of TJ Rogers, Marcus Jackson, Tyrese Wingard and Austin Bennett took home the gold medal with a time of 44.18 seconds.

Bennett finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.17 and Jackson was right behind him in third with a time of 11.25. Jackson also took home the silver medal in the 200 with a time of 23.14.

The Eagles finished in seventh place at the meet with 32 points.

The Goshen Lady Eagles and Class 3A Pike County Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs did not compete in the state meet.

On the female side in the Class 5A state meet, the Charles Henderson Lady Trojans’ Ashley Miller finished fourth in the 800 and 14th in the 400. She ran a time of 2:29.36 in the 800 and a time of 1:04.14 in the 400.

Sharley Brooks placed ninth in the 3200 and 11th in the 1600 for CHHS. She ran a 13:07.22 in the 3200 and a 6:06.10 in the 1600. Kasheena Grandberry placed fourth in the shot put and 17th in the javelin throw.

On the male side, Isiah Wilson placed eighth in the long jump and Daniel Hartley finished ninth in the javelin throw.

The Charles Henderson girls’ team finished the meet in 14th place with 13 points and the boys’ team finished in a tie for 34th with one point.
