Hope is the in air today. Can you feel it?

A Rainbow of Hope, to be precise.

That’s the theme for the Pike County Relay for Life this year.

And beginning at 5 p.m. today, hundreds of Pike County residents will join together for an evening of celebrating and sharing at the Sportsplex. From the Survivors Walk to the moving lighting of the luminaries and the reading of the names of those who lost their battle against cancer, the evening is a tribute to the lives of those we love and their fight against the disease that so many know all too well.

But it is much more than just a “relay.”

The event has turned into a true community celebration of lives lived and lost, of love and hope here in Pike County. Come out to the Sportsplex and you’re likely to find mothers and daughters proudly walking arm-in-arm during the relay, sharing tears and laughter; children walking with grandparents, clinging to their hands and treasuring the moments together; husbands and wives, silently recalling the tender moments they’ve shared together; and friends, family and neighbors who rally around in fellowship and friendship, simply there to do what they can in the ongoing battle against cancer.

It’s a night filled with hope – for a cure, for treatments, for futures, for all of us.

And we hope you will take time to join your neighbors at the Relay for Life.

For months now, teams across the county have been raising money for this event, holding bake sales and dinners; barbecues and boot-scootin’ dances. Tonight, the fund-rasing comes to a close and the community comes together to mark another Relay for Life.

Come add your smile to our Rainbow of Hope tonight.
