Nine Trojans played their last game in Hogan’s Hole at Frazier Field Tuesday night. Dario Rouse, Zeb Swindall, Chap Swindall, David Fleming, Jake Smith, Parker Sanders, Jared Rogers, Wesley Hayes and Daniel Hartley.

No. 8 Charles Henderson (24-10) honored its seniors and won two games over the Opp Bobcats as well.

The Trojans had to come back for the win in game one, scoring seven runs in the fifth inning to win 11-6.

In game two, every senior saw some playing time and the Trojans nearly let the Bobcats steal a game, winning 9-8.

“We are just happy to get two wins,” CHHS head coach Derek Irons said. “You can’t let the emotions of Senior Night distract you from playing the game. And we told the guys we needed to focus the best we could on doing the little things right and we would win the games and we got two wins.”

In game one the Trojans jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Opp countered with two in the top of the second inning to tie the score.

Opp took a 3-2 lead with one run in the third inning, but the Trojans took the lead back with a two-run inning.

The Bobcats tied the game again in the fourth inning and took a 6-4 lead with two runs in the fifth inning.

The Trojans exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to grab an 11-6 lead and neither team scored again.

Junior K.D. Edenfield stole the show on Senior Night, going a combined 6-for-8 with three runs, three triples, two doubles and five RBIs on the night.

“K.D. had a great night and it seems like that is the trend for us,” Irons said. “We have had several individuals jump up when we needed someone recently. That was a great effort for K.D. and he really got us going in both games.”

The Trojans have won three straight games heading into the first round of the playoffs and Irons said his team seems to be picking up speed.

“It looks like we have a lot of our guys swinging it well right now, which is what you need at this time of year,” he said. “Hopefully we are hitting our stride at the right time.”

The Trojans host Greenville (13-11) in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs Friday in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. Game three is set for 1 p.m. Saturday if needed.
