GES principal search under way

Goshen Elementary School may have a new principal as soon as the end of May or beginning of June, Pike County School Superintendent Mark Bazzell said at last night’s board meeting.

According to Bazzell, so far about 23 applications have been submitted, and he hopes to have the application process wrapped up to allow the board to make a decision at the second board meeting in May or by the beginning of June.

In other business, the board approved a resolution recognizing Teacher Appreciation Weeks as May 3-9.

Daniel Reeves to attend the Promethean Board Installation Training from June 8-11 in Alpharetta, Ga.

An overnight trip for FFA officers to attend the state FFA Convention June 3-5 at Auburn University.

SFC Aaron Young to attend the JROCTC Annual In-Service Training June 15-18 in Vicksburg, Miss.

Thirty to 40 PCHS art students to take a field trop to the High Museum in Atlanta in May.

In personnel action, the board voted to accept the resignation of Bus Driver Todd Carpenter and approved employment of Jeffery Allen as bus driver.

The board also approved several requests for catastrophic leave and Family Medical Leave for various reasons.
