Charles Henderson’s soccer Trojans took out St. Paul’s Thursday night in Troy, 1-0.

Lloyd Shillabeer was not in his normal position because of an injury, but he still scored the only goal of the game in the 13th minute of the first half.

“St. Paul’s is always a top team in our classification,” Lieb said. “They are a good team and that was an important win for us because we will play Spanish Fort in the first district game here in Troy.”

St. Paul’s is undefeated in Section 1 play, but the Trojans (8-2, 4-1 AHSAA Class 5A, Section 2) were the stronger defensive team Thursday, according to Lieb.

“Our defense did a great job of defending against 24 shots on goal,” Lieb said. “And we got the ball at the 35 yard line and Lloyd curved a shot around the goalie for the only goal of the game.”

Next up for the Trojans is another home game against section rival Eufaula April 14. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
