Goshen softball loses on road

The Goshen Lady Eagles could not keep the winning streak going, as they fell 5-2 to Wicksburg on the road Thursday.

Goshen (10-5) had 10 hits to Wicksburg’s seven Thursday, but GHS head coach Dee Hughes said the Lady Eagles couldn’t get the hits when they needed them.

“We just couldn’t get the timely hitting and we had five or six innings where we left runners on base,” Hughes said. “And there was one inning where we had the bases loaded and could not get any runs.”

Alli Warrick took the loss in the circle for the Lady Eagles and after allowing two runs in the first and two in the second she pitched well, but the Goshen offense could not give her enough support for a win.

“She settled down after those first two innings, but it was just one of those games at the plate,” Hughes said.

Amanda Griggs scored both of the Lady Eagles’ runs. Rachael Senn was 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and Shelby Vinson was 2-for-3.

In the circle, Warrick recorded three strikeouts and had three walks. She allowed five runs on seven hits.

Next up for the Lady Eagles is the team’s first area game against Highland Home in Goshen Tuesday.

Game time is set for 4 p.m.
