Sisters to host Relay benefit supper

If the entertainment doesn’t show up for Sisters Pike County Relay for Life Benefit Supper on April 14, then Pat and Geraldine will tune up and sing. That possibility might leave some hoping the entertainment doesn’t show.

But there’s an addendum to that.

The owners of Sisters said the money has also got to be right and they don’t sing for peanuts.

Either way, the guests who come to supper at Sisters Tuesday night will be treated to an “all you can eat” spaghetti supper or, for those who don’t do noodles, there will be chicken fingers and the trimmings.

“This will be our sixth Relay for Life benefit supper,” said Geraldine Umbehagen, who along with her sister, Pat Rogers, owns and operates Sisters Restaurant, Home of the World Famous Banana Puddin’. “We’ve been very fortunate that there has not been a lot of cancer in our family but we’ve had employees whose families have been affected and a lot of our customers.

“We just want to do what we can to help. Pike County has been good to us and we want to give something back. This is one way that we can do it.”

The Relay for Life Benefit Supper will be $10 per person and will include dessert and drink. All tips will also go to the Pike County Relay for Life campaign.

“We’ll also have a few gift certificates that we’ll give away and a few surprises that will make it a lot of fun,” Rogers said.

Pam Little, co-chair of the 2009 Pike County Relay for Life campaign, said the Relay board greatly appreciates the support of Sisters. Members of the Relay for Life board of directors will serve as waitresses and waiters for the event. Guests are encouraged to look for their favorite server and tip them accordingly. The board servers will include Carol Spurlock, Faye Lunsford, Jason Reeves, Melissa Bradford, Shelby Brown, Janet Baker, Judy Baxter, Benny Pinckard, Wendy Ward, Rhonda Tuberville, Kelli Cleveland, Pam Little, Melissa Ingram, Lauren Kilcrease, Paul Outlaw, Jason Jones, Taylor Jinright, Erin Wood, Jodie Jefcoat, Candice Shaughnessy, Debbie Headley, Sharla Davenport, Charles Wallace, Mary Elle Eldridge, James Kimbrough and April Sneed.

Janet Baker is chair of the 2009 Pike County Relay for Life campaign. Pam Little And Rhoda Tuberville are the co-chairs.

Rosa Boswell and Alex Morgan are the honorary chairs of this year’s campaign and both will attend the supper if possible.

Those who are not able to attend the Sisters Relay for Life Benefit Supper but wish to make a contribution to the cause may do so at the restaurant.
