Graveside services for Mrs. Louise T. Poppell, 91, of Andalusia, formerly of Albany, Ga., who died Thursday, April 2, 2009 in an Andalusia nursing home was at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany with Dr. Don Kea officiating.
Burial was under the direction of Keahey Funeral Home of Andalusia.
Visitation was from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, April 3 at the funeral home and from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Albany.
She was born March 15, 1918 in Pike County near Troy. She graduated from high school in Union Springs and attended Freeman Business College in Albany., where she lived and retired from American General Life Insurance Company in 1978.
Mrs. Poppell was a member of First United Methodist Church in Albany where she had served on the Administrative Board from time to time.
She had been honored with a life membership in the United Methodist Women’s Association and was member of Eleanor Hawk Sunday school class and was a member of Gold Star Wives of America.
Survivors include as sister, Mildred Mack of Opp; stepson James B. Poppell III of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
