Troy Police are investigating after a local couple reported two bulls were stolen from their pin early Monday.

Krissy Pinkard, of Troy, said two Brahma bulls were taken from a pin at she and her husband’s cow pasture on Highway 87 around 5:30 a.m. Monday.

A report has been filed with the Troy Police Department, and Spokesman Sgt. Benny Scarbrough said officers are seeking suspects.

But, livestock thefts are part of something that has been going on all across the state, according to Chief Investigator for the Department of Agriculture Bob Holley.

“We’ve had numberous cattle stolen since the first of the year,” Holley said.

Holley said some of the livestock have been returned and some arrests have been made in the instances.

He said he isn’t sure what exactly to attribute these thefts too, but it is likely harsh economic times.

“The economy’s down, and they’ll steal anything they can to make money on I guess,” Holley said.

Scarbrough said police are continuing to investigate the incident and seek suspects.
