Jean W. Register
Services for Jean W. Register, age 87, of Troy and formerly of Highway 29 South, who died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Troy Regional Medical Center, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy, with the Rev. Bo Weed officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery in Troy under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy, one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Register was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Covington County, Ala., to John Andrew Wilson and Jewel Gladys Moseley Wilson.
She retired as salesperson at a retail-clothing store.
She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and had a love for birds, beautiful music and her church.
She was preceded in death by her, husband, Alva Q. Register; her parents, John Andrew and Jewel Moseley Wilson; a brother, John T. Wilson; and three sisters, Jeanette Wilson Wells Kapp, Gladys Wilson Gibson and Lois Wilson Witherington.
Survivors include two sisters and brother-in-law, Kathryn King, Troy; Ethlelda Marie and Joe Bruce, Tallahassee, Fla., six nieces and their spouses, Helen and Davis Doggett of Troy, Sandra Witherington Barker of Mechanicsburg, Penn., Brenda Witherington and Raymond Hall, Arlington, Texas, Sarah Jeanne Gibson and Bruce Delavan, St. James City, Fla., Christina Kapp and Mark Keister, Dover, Del., and Sharon M. Bruce, Ellijay, Ga.; eight nephews and their spouses Paul and Jo Ann King of Luverne, Jerry and Gracie Witherington of Terry, Miss., Daniel F. and Gail Gibson of Due West, S.C., Dwight Wilson of Arizona; Charles and Mary Wells of Tiller, Ark.; Robert Kapp of Dover, Robert T. and Darlene Bruce of Pensacola, Fla., and Ronald A. Bruce of Tallahassee; and many more family members and friends.
Pallbearers are Jerry Witherington, Robert Bruce, Joey King, Davis Doggett, Kirk Douglas, Daniel Gibson and Charles Wells.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gleaners Sunday School Class, Southside Baptist Church.
The family requests memorial be made to one’s favorite charity.
