Anne Thompson, the owner of Twice is Nice, hails from Michigan and is a retired sheriff, a full-time student, and mother of three boys.

Her husband works for Troy University’s ROTC, and is active duty Air Force.

Thompson said she is excited about bringing designer clothes at affordable prices to the community.

“I’ve always enjoyed getting a bargain, and ever since I came to Troy, I’ve wanted to bring all the big trends to our town, without people having to drive to Dothan or Montgomery to get them,” Thompson said.

“This just seemed like the right time to open the store, everything fell into place. I wanted to give a little back to our community during these hard economic times.”

Consignors to Twice Is Nice will receive 50 percent of the sale price, which Thompson said is a unique aspect of her store.

“Most consignment shops will only give consignors 40 percent of the sale price, and I don’t think that’s fair. I wouldn’t have a store if it weren’t for the consignors,” Thompson said.

“I think it is only right that those consigning receive 50 percent of the sale price. I want to go the extra mile for my customers.”

Thompson also offers a “cash on the spot” option for consignors.

“One of my options will be to give customers cash on the spot on select items. If they are in a tight situation and are in need of money, they don’t have to wait until the item sells,” Thompson said.

“They would probably get more money if they waited, but I understand that sometimes people just need cash immediately.”

Thompson said that this is a great way for people to get a little bit of money back for their investments.

“Anytime you buy clothes, it’s an investment. This is a great way for you to get a little bit of your money back for your gently used items,” Thompson said.

“And, instead of re-gifting unwanted gifts, get some cash for them. We accept purses, belts, picture frames, new candles, gently used sporting goods, jewelry, etc.”

Consignment clothes must be like new and without defect.

“This is a standard retail business. Clothes must be like new and without defect,” Thompson said.

We are currently accepting new and/or gently used name brand and designer merchandise for consignment. This will be a store for the entire family, and for all sizes. We will even have formal wear.”

Twice is Nice Consignment Shoppe is currently accepting consignments from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The shop will be taking consignments from 11:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and on Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
