Sara Kate Young
Services for Sara Kate Young, (Katie), 78, of Lakeland Fla., who died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, was celebrated in a private manner.
Katie was born Jan. 10, 1931 in Pike County. In 1986, she decided to pursue her interest in cooking and attended Elgin Community College Culinary Arts program.
She retired in 1992 after serving Chicago Aerial Industries for 22 years. She recently finished writing a cookbook that she was looking into having published. Katie enjoyed playing canasta and dominos with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was doing puzzles. Katie loved gardening and it brought joy to her to see the birds and butterflies in the garden, she was magic with plants. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sara Bratton and Columbus Gary Jinright.
Survivors include two brothers, W. B. Jinright and Chuck Jinright; three children, Frank Young Jr., Gary Young and Betty Sohlberg; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.The family request that memorials be made to a Shriner’s Hospital.
