Stella stage shows have become a tradition at Pike Liberal Arts School and this year’s production of “Snow White” will be no exception.

Dee Bennett, assistant headmaster, said the classic fairytale will be brought to life in a magnificent way with a talented cast of student actors, vocalists and dancers, a creative and imaginative crew and a young but talented and experienced director.

“Jenny Meadows has brought with her a wealth of talent to Pike Liberal Arts from the Troy University drama department,” Bennett said.

“She has done an outstanding job and this will be a very enjoyable production.”

Bennett, laughingly, said the “traditional’ play was selected by the students because they thought their peers had perfect personalities for the roles of the Seven Dwarfs.

“The play features beautiful vocals and everyone will really be impressed by the singing abilities of several members of the cast,” she said. ‘“Jenny has brought so much variety to our drama department and that will be evident in the production.”

Sydni Sikes will play the role of the lead character, Snow White, and Mallory May will play the role of the evil queen.

“Mallory is absolutely one of the sweetest girls in the world so to see her play the evil queen is shocking,” Bennett said.

“I never thought that Mallory could have such an evil laugh. She will have people talking.”

Prince Charming will be played by Brock Collier and the queen’s sidekick, the Woodsman, will be played by Curtis Hughes.

“And there could be no Snow White without the Talking Mirror, played by Nathan Black,” Bennett said.

The dancing forest animals, Mary Vance Ventress, Haley Hixon, Alex Sanders and Sara Richburg will take and hold the spotlight along with the Seven Dwarfs, Alex Ingram, Grumpy; Julie Sanders, Happy; Amelia Spradley, Dopey: Cameron Clark, Sleepy; Emily Ward, Bashful; Genevieve Teel, Sneezy; and Haley Dean, Doc.

Bennett said the scenery under the direction of Meagan Riley is magnificent and Haley Dean has been outstanding as stage manager.

“The play showcases the many talents of our students and we know that it will be a fun and enjoyable production for all,” she said. Show times for the public are 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8 and 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 10.

There will be a special performance for the students at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 9.

All performances are in the school cafetorium.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Children under age three are admitted free.
