The Pike County Bulldogs opened the baseball season Wednesday with an 8-4 road victory over Sidney Lanier.

Cory Lee picked up the win for the Bulldogs.

Cody Sanders went 3-for-3 at the plate. Ryan Stroud was 2-for-3. Azrael Larkin was 2-for-4 and Jaquez Walker, Deion Nickson and Austin Rushing each had one hit.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to open the season Feb. 19, but the game was canceled. The game has been rescheduled for April 13.

Up next for Pike County is a doubleheader against G.W. Carver today.
