Vernelle B. Grissette, 78, of Troy, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Rev. Martha Baxter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Grissette was preceded in death by her husband, Asa Grissette; a son, Robert Grissette; a grandson, Blake Rountree; and two brothers, Byron Brooks and Howard Brooks.
Survivors include four children, Ronald S. Grissette and wife Jennifer of Spring Hill, Janice Rountree and husband Michael of Troy, Jeannie Ennis and husband Jimmy of Troy and Mike Grissette and wife Pamela of Troy; a sister, Faye Wilkes of Troy; seven grandchildren, Tonya Grissette, Jenna Mobley, Brandon Rountree, Tony Turner, Michelle Ennis, Jeffery Ennis, Stephen Grissette and Mary Elizabeth Grissette; two great-grandchildren, Kolby Galimore and Jackson Skinner; and three sisters-in-law, Ann Brooks of Auburn, Annie Ruth Richburg of Abbeville and Evelyn Bass of Dothan.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Rountree, Tony Turner, Jeffery Ennis, Stephen Grissette, Kolby Galimore and Lee Skinner. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Bass, Eddie Boutwell and Judson Creek. Visit www.dillardfh.com to sign the guestbook.
