Funeral services for Julia Manning Helms, 90, of Troy, who died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Troy Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Aman officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel.
She was born Nov. 18, 1918, in Troy, the daughter of William Manning and Mary Ward Manning. She was retired from the manufacturing industry.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Barney L. Helms; a son, Jerry Helms; a granddaughter, Mashea Brown; and a great-grandson, Shepherd Brown.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Helms of Troy; a sister, Ruby Manning of Troy; a daughter-in-law, Mary Coston Helms of Troy; four grandchildren and their spouses, Ricky and Shannon Shepherd of Birmingham, Leah and Frankie Simms of Luverne, Julie Helms Green of Troy and Jennifer and Cliff Massey of Montgomery; seven great-grandchildren, Anna and Will Shepherd of Birmingham, Blake Green of Troy, Morgan and Jenna Simms of Luverne and Tyler and Tucker Massey of Montgomery.
