Pike County residents have an opportunity to combine a little fun with a great cause later this month by participating the Colley Senior Complex’s Mardi Gras Gala and Silent Auction on Feb. 21.

Now, make no mistake. This is some serious Mardi Gras fun, all cloaked in the cause of supporting the programs of the Colley Complex, which serves nearly 2,000 seniors each month through programs ranging from exercise to teaching fine arts.

For decades, the Colley Complex has been a hub of activity for residents who reach that golden age. From line dancing to pottery, watercolors to Spanish, yoga to quilting, you can find hundreds of seniors pursuing favorite hobbies and new skills at the Complex.

But funding these programs isn’t cheap, hence the need for a fund-raiser.

Several years ago, the fun-loving volunteers supporting the festival decided to bring an official Mardi Gras event to Troy, and the Gala was born. Throughout the years, with steadfast krewes and new additions, the gala and silent auction has grown to become one of the most highly anticipated social events of the year. It’s a chance to dress up, enjoy friends and celebrate the Mardi Gras season while benefitting an important agency. Moreover, all the proceeds from the event stay right here in Pike County, directly funding the complex and its programs.

While many participants are members of supporting krewes, the event is open to the general public and everyone is encouraged to attend. Tickets are $50 per person ($100 per krewe member) and are available at the Colley Complex or even at the door.

So go ahead and mark the date on your calendar, pull out that fancy dress and plan to join your friends and neighbors at the Mardi Gras Gala and Silent Auction on Feb. 21. The good times will roll, and all for a good cause.
