Pike County’s Bulldogs were reeling after a tough, grueling 53-34 loss to Class 2A’s No. 1 Barbour County Jaguars Saturday, but they responded with a 68-58 win over Class 5A Carroll Tuesday night in Brundidge.

“We played well all night and we had great overall team play through the entire game,” PCHS head coach Doug Holland said. “It felt good to get back on the winning side of things and I was extremely proud of our effort tonight.”

The No. 10 Bulldogs (16-6) held a 38-30 halftime lead and held steady in the second half, something they could not do Saturday against Barbour County’s 2-3 half court trap defense.

“Barbour County wore us down in the second half of that game,” Holland said. “But we were not as fatigued tonight.”

Tevin Andrews led PCHS with 17 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Martellis Foster had 16 points and six rebounds. Kendrick Jackson chipped in 11 points and four rebounds and Quay Bailey added six points, 11 assists and six rebounds.

During halftime of the PCHS-Luverne game Thursday the seniors will be recognized for Senior Night.
