Funeral services for Jonas (Joe) McClure will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Troy, Alabama, with Rev. L. G. Bland officiating and George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be Friday, January 23, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home.
Burial will follow the funeral service at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Troy, Alabama.
Mr. Jonas (Joe) McClure was born December 25, 1939 to the late U. L. McClure and Ella V. McClure in Troy, Alabama.
While Jonas lived in Troy, he worked for CSX Railroad System.
He later moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1972.
He was affectionately known as Joe by his adopted family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two children, Johnny McClure and Melissa Larkin; four grandchildren, Maquee, Maurice, and Kevin Larkin and Johnny McClure; a loyal and supportive adopted family, Ms. Fannie Ford and children; three greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Ossie M. Stewart,
Cincinnati, Ohio, Lillian M. Wilson (Robert), Troy, Alabama, and Ozella Townsend (Bobby), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one brother, C. W. McClure (Mary), Chicago, Illinois; three aunts, Georgia M. Pennington, Troy, Alabama, Barbara Reed, Birmingham, Alabama, and Mae Charles Poter, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one uncle, Obie Thomas (Mary), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; one great-aunt, Edna Ruth Kelly, Troy, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nep hews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.
