Verbie Ward Powell, age 89, a resident of Jack, formerly of Montgomery passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009.
Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Barnett Ward, her second husband, Horace Powell, two brothers and two sisters
She is survived by her children, Jo Ann Champion, Larue (Brenda) Ward, Jim (Bernice) Ward, Jimmie (Rev. Morris ) Pate, Frances Powell (Thomas) Powell, Charles D. Powell; additional family is Jim Brazda; fourteen grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a very special friend for 61 years, Willie Lowe.
Funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Friday, January 23, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Elmer Ellis and Rev. Morris Pate officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Herbert Ward, Audie Ward, James H. Ward, Jr., Eddie Pate, Randy Pate and Mike Pate.
