Woman killed in wreck

A Montgomery woman died Wednesday in a two-vehicle wreck about five miles north of Troy.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. just north of Pioneer Village outside of Troy.

Robin Spears Rogers, 40, was fatally injured after her red 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer reportedly experienced a tire blow out.

The SUV spun and crashed sideways into a Mazda pickup truck hauling a trailer.

According Alabama State Trooper Sgt. Scott Brasher, witnesses at the scene said they saw Rogers headed south on U.S. 231 when they heard a loud pop.

The Trailblazer then spun sideways, hit the pickup truck and eventually flipped into the northbound lane.

Rogers was thrown from the vehicle.

The passenger of the Rogers’ vehicle received only minor injuries

According to Brasher, a four-year-old child was restrained in the backseat, but only suffered minor injuries.

Alabama State Troopers, Troy Police Department, Troy Fire Department and Care Ambulance service all responded to the wreck.
