It was another clean sweep for Goshen Monday night over Zion Chapel.

The girls’ game went to overtime and Destinie Barnes hit two free throws to seal the deal for the Lady Eagles, 37-30.

“Zion Chapel came out and meant business tonight,” GHS Lady Eagles coach Lindsey Hornbuckle said. “We were not stepping up and playing, but we did in the fourth quarter and overtime to get the win. I was proud of how they came back to get the win.”

Goshen (5-3, 5-0 AHSAA Class 2A, Area 5) trailed by seven points at one point in the game.

The Eagles (4-10, 2-3) destroyed Zion Chapel to the tune of 74-50.

But it was not all smooth sailing for the Eagles in the game, as they were down two points at halftime.

“I was disappointed in the effort in the first half,” GHS coach Jonathan Deveridge said. “But in the second half, the threes started to fall and the defensive intensity picked up. Our full court trap was the key to the victory. Any time you force 30 turnovers and have 18 steals you have a great chance of winning the game.”

Antwan Boswell led the Eagles with 24 points and eight assists. Tyrese Wingard chipped in 17 points and six assists. Justin Senn had 16 points and Reginald Foster put in 11 points with 23 rebounds.

The B team won 56-26. Marcus Coleman led with 15 points and Marcus Jackson chipped in nine points.
