Services for Elma Mae Martin, 75, of Troy who died January 11, 2009 at Crown Health Care Facility in Montgomery will be at 11 a.m. January 16, 2009 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. L.C. McMillian officiating.
Burial will be in Carroll Street Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation was January 15th.
Ms. Martin was born March 28, 1933 in Troy.
Her parents were Willie Mae Hooten Collins and Delma “Candyman” Martin.
She graduated from Academy St. High in 1949 and attended Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
Elma loved life and her children. She loved to read and walk.
Survivors include her mother, Willie Mae Collins; children, Gwendolyn and Johnny Jr. Boswell of Troy, Eddie and Melissa Grimes of Troy, Jacqueline M. Smith of Moncks Corner, SC, Janice D. Martin, Gloria and Freddie King, Christine and Paul Parham, Jeritha and Willie Davis of Troy; Evangeline and Jerry Foster of Athens, Jennifer and Larry Copeland and Lamon Martin of Troy; sisters, and brothers, Dorothy and Q. T McBride, Helen Coleman, Willie Melvin and Mamie Peterson of Troy, Nathan Peterson of Montgomery, Sara and Moses Logan of Miami, FL and Patricia Cogburn of Silver Spring MD, Susie and Willie Coleman of Cleveland, OH and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other family and friends.
Family received guests and friends at 114 Segars St.
Pallbearers will be Garry Rumph, Maxwell Smith, Carlos Jackson, Gregory Davis-Grandsons, James McBride and Jimmy D. McBride-nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be High School Classes of 1977, 1979, 1984 and 1988.
Floral Bearers will be her granddaughters.
