BBA presents ‘business of the year’

Just look at the refurbished Odessa Davis house or the Vincent Allen house, and you’ll see the work of one key Brundidge business.

That’s what the Brundidge Business Association said about P& F Properties, LLC. when they declared the them “Business of the Year” in their banquet Thursday night.

This business, which has been refurbishing old homes in Brundidge since 2004, is owned by Margaret and Jimmy Peacock and Bill and Stephanie Fisher.

They have refurbished homes all throughout the town, from Main Street, Ramage Circle, East Troy Street and Dickert Circle.

“I’d like to thank the Brundidge Business Association on behalf of myself and my family,” said Bill Fisher, who is originally not from Brundidge. “We love this town, and this is where we plan to stay.”

The BBA also announced Pike County’s Teachers of the Year Awards.

The Pike County High School winner was Melinda Defee, who has been teaching since 1996.

“I’ve been here since ’96, and I’m a Bulldog through and through,” Defee said. “This is where I plan to stay.”

And, Pike County Elementary School’s winner was Debbie Kelley, who has been here for the last 22 years.

“I’m honored, but I couldn’t do this if it weren’t for the other people on my team,” Kelley said.

BBA’s 2008 President Lamar Steed announced the three new businesses in Brundidge this year were Tax Express, Primerica and Louise’s Pet Feed Store.

John Phillip Johnston was the guest speaker at the banquet.

Johnston, who collects old Brundidge newspapers presented a history of business in the city and spoke of the future of local business.

“It’s not easy being in business, but if you work hard and be patient, it usually pays off,” Johnston said.

And before the banquet closed, BBA’s 2009 President Jennifer Garrett announced the new officers and directors: Vice President John Ramage, Secretary Saraline Hines, Treasurer Glenda Gunter and Directors Isabell Boyd, Robert Bullock, Linda Dansby, King Issac, Beck Linguiti and Dixie Shehane.
