Funeral services for Thomas E. “Tommy” Ballenger, 63, of Eufaula who died Sunday, January 4, 2009 in Houma, Louisiana will be held Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 1 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church with Rev. Bob Henderson officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery in Troy with Chapman Funeral Home of Eufaula directing.
Mr. Ballenger was born October 12, 1945 in Mobile. He was the son of the late Gerald Eugene and Florence Virginia Noland Ballenger. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence Ross Ballenger; brother, Don Ballenger and a brother-in-law, Bobby Tate.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church where he loved cooking biscuits for the Sunday morning breakfast. His hobbies were the outdoors; boating and hunting and he loved his cats.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. James Episcopal Church Building Fund.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Lawrence Ballenger of Eufaula; daughter, Mary Anna (Quinton) Woeppel of Salt Lake City, Utah; granddaughter, Parker Ellen Ballenger; brother, Zachary Ballenger of Jasper; sister, Betty Ballenger Tate of Fairhope; mother-in-law, Sarah Talbot Lawrence of Eufaula and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Paul Voors, Buddy Lawrence, Norm Mitchell, Frankie Garrison, Harvey Collins, Larry Thomas, Rob Schaffeld and Arnie Cutchens.
