The varsity girls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter Tuesday, only to see that lead evaporate by way of a 24-4 run from Lee-Scott. Pike lost 40-22.

“They stretched out a lead on us and we cut it down in the third quarter, but we just couldn’t do enough to get the win,” PLAS head varsity girls’ coach Steven Kilcrease said. “We never could get close enough.”

Rebecca Farrar led the scoring for Pike with nine points and Eady Pinckard chipped in eight points.

Lee-Scott’s Jessica Washington led all scorers with 17 points, including four three-pointers. Kilcrease said Washington hurt the Lady Patriots all night.

The varsity boys lost 39-34 and Justin McLaughlin led the way with 17 points and six rebounds.

Pike Liberal is next in action Jan. 12 with a home game against Lakeside beginning at 4 p.m.
