Bulldog shakeup imminent

Brad Waggoner took the reins of the Pike County Bulldogs from Wayne Grant last year, and it looks like Waggoner is no longer the head coach of the Bulldogs.

According to an article published in the Rome News-Tribune, Waggoner accepted the head coaching job at Chattooga High School in Summerville, Ga. effective Jan. 5.

“It was just the opportunity to come back to Georgia,” Waggoner, a Fayetteville, Ga. native, told the Rome News-Tribune. “Growing up here I guess I always wanted to be a high school football coach in the state of Georgia, and I saw Chattooga as a good community school.”

Pike County Schools superintendent Mark Bazzell said he could not comment on the situation until he meets with Waggoner Wednesday.

Chattooga athletic director Jim Lenderman could not be reached for comment at press time.

Waggoner led the Bulldogs to a 5-5 record and a playoff berth in his first season at the helm last year.
