The Goshen Eagles boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams were swept by Luverne on Monday night, and both teams are looking to rebound tonight against Carroll of Ozark.

The boys’ team fell to the Tigers 66-33 in the night’s finale.

“I really feel like we’re just missing one more ball handler,” Eagles head coach Jonathon Deveridge said. “We need somebody to put in the lineup to take some pressure off of the other guys.”

The difference in the game was turnovers for the Eagles, and Deveridge said that has plagued the team all season.

“I told them turnovers will ruin our season,” Deveridge said.

The Eagles committed 29 turnovers in the game, and they didn’t help their cause by scoring just one point in the fourth quarter as opposed to Luverne’s 25.

Tyrese Wingard led the scoring column for the Eagles with 14 points.

Freshman Reginald Foster added eight points and 12 rebounds.

The girls fell 39-33 and were led by Deanna McLeod with 15 points.

Ivia Pollard added six points.

“They (Luverne) came together when it counted and we fell apart,” coach Lindsey Hornbuckle said.

The Lady Eagles led the game through three quarters before losing late.
