Brundidge Police have arrested an 18-year-old boy for allegedly robbing a local store at gunpoint.

Antonio Alexis, 18 of Brundidge, was arrested Monday morning, after he allegedly held a gun to the clerk at the Corner Store and stole money from the register, said Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport.

“He went into the store, and he appeared to have a ski mask on, but it was actually a sweater pulled over his face,” Davenport said. “He was peering through the top.”

Davenport said the store clerk followed Alexis’s orders and handed him the money he asked for in the armed robbery that lasted only about 20 seconds.

“The clerk did exactly what she needed to do, and then he turned and ran out,” Davenport said.

Officers located Alexis after he had been seen walking down old County Road 2 walking by the railroad.

Davenport said at first no one was able to identify him because he had changed clothes, and the clerk never saw his face.

But, Davenport said officers found the gun he allegedly used, and a DNA test was conducted Tuesday.

Also, they found on his person a cash amount that matched what was taken.

Alexis was transported to the Pike County Jail, and is charged with robbery 1st.
