Bowling season nearly here in Troy

Published 11:16 pm Wednesday, December 3, 2008

It is about time to go bowling and Troy University will be right in the thick of that scenario.

Now I am not talking about pulling out the musty old multi colored shoes in the back of the closet and the ball that weighs a ton. I am talking about the Football Bowl Subdivision’s version of the playoffs.

The bowl season officially begins Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. with the EagleBank Bowl in Washington D.C. and Troy University could be right in the middle of that mix. It is an exciting time to be a Trojan. I know I am excited for this weekend because this weekend will decide where the Trojans end up when the postseason comes around.

I know Troy might end up on the outside looking in again like last year, but I highly doubt that. It will be a joy to cover the New Orleans Bowl, the Papajohns.com Bowl or any other bowl the Trojans get invited to.

This is just the best time of the year because it is the holiday season and it is a time for giving and happy times and there is plenty of football to go around. With 34 bowls slated for the 2008-09 schedule this should be a festive time to have some football fun. Sixty-eight college football teams will get the opportunity to have some winter wonderland fun and most of them will get to make the most of that time in the warm atmosphere of Florida, Arizona, Texas or California.

So no matter where the hometown Trojans end up, it will be a fun time for all that follow them because I am sure you will be with family and friends for the holiday season of football fun.

Go out and enjoy some Trojan football with your loved ones around the holidays.
