A full house is expected when Troy University’s John M. Long School of Music and the College of Communication and Fine Arts present the “Sounds of the Season: Illuminations” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Claudia Crosby Theater.

The performance is free and open to the public. However, an admission ticket is required and available at the Trojan Center Box Office.

Dr. Larry Blocher, director of the John M. Long School of Music, said the holiday concert attracts the general public as well as students.

“The ‘Sounds of the Season’ concert is a holiday celebration that is essentially a gift from the College of Communication and Fine Arts to Troy University and the Troy community,” Blocher said. “It’s a showcase of the various components of music and theater.”

“Illuminations” will feature performances from the Troy University Symphony Band, Gospel Choir, Theatre Ensemble, Collegiate Singers, Concert Chorale, Show Choir, Brass Quintet and Jazz Combo, as well as a number of soloists.

The music will include traditional and contemporary pieces that include a variety of holiday favorites.

The theater department will present a mini dramatic reading that will lead directly into Dr. Michael Hick’s presentation of “O Holy Night” and the conclusion of the “Sounds of the Season.”

“‘Sounds of the Season: Illusions’ is a great way to start the holiday season and we invite everyone to join us,” Blocher said.

Immediately following the concert, the campus Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place outside the Crosby Theater. Everyone is invited to stay and help usher the Christmas season in at Troy University.
