The youth of Salem Baptist Church in Brundidge will present a live Nativity scene tonight from 6 until 7 o’clock on the church grounds.

The event will be in connection with the Brundidge Business Association’s annual Christmas Lighting Ceremony and Parade which will begin at 6 p.m. in the downtown area.

Kevin Davis, Salem Baptist Church association pastor, said the youth’s Nativity scene will include the main characters, Mary, Joseph and the Baby Jesus and the supporting characters, the Wise Men, the shepherds and the angels.

The scene will also include the animals that were there to welcome the Baby Jesus _ sheep, cows and a donkey.

“The Nativity scene depicts the arrival of the Christ Child to Earth and his coming into the world as the savior of all mankind,” Davis said. “We invite everyone to spend a few minutes with us as our young people tell the story of the real reason for the Christmas season.”

Following the Christmas Lighting Ceremony, the BBA will host a Christmas sing-along and storytelling event at the We Piddle Around Theater. The event is free for children through age 10. However, a ticket is required for admission. Tickets are available at Southeast Alabama Gas in Brundidge. Each family of children must be accompanied by a parent.
