Troy is sending all five teams they sent to the postseason to the state tournament this weekend in Dothan.

The Troy Parks and Recreation tournament teams in the 18U, 13U, 11U and 9U age divisions all qualified for the tournament. The 18U and 9U girls’ team did not participate in a district tournament, the 13U and the 11U teams won their respective districts and the 9U boys’ team was invited after finishing second in district.

Youth Sports Director David Dickey said he is excited about the weekend.

“Having all those teams in the state tournament shows where Troy soccer is headed,” Dickey said. “We have a lot of good athletes and they all play hard.”

Dickey is ready to see how the various Troy teams do this weekend.

“I like our chances over there in Dothan and I would be surprised if we did not come back with at least three titles,” he said. “It is so good to have these teams representing Troy.”

The 18U team opens up against Prattville at 1 p.m. The 13U team faces Anniston at 11 a.m. for their first game. The 11U team opens against Oxford at 1 p.m. The 9U boys and girls both play Fort Payne first. The boys kickoff at 9 a.m. and the girls are at 10:30 a.m.

All games are on Saturday. The tournament stretches into Sunday and the champions will be named Sunday.
