Peebles has teamed up with the Charles Henderson High School concert band to help the students earn their way to a national competition.

Pike Countians may help the band students raise money for the trip and save money at the same time by purchasing $5 coupon books to be used during Peebles annual Charity Days, Nov. 16 and 17.

Sarah Stoop, CHHS band administrative assistant, said the concert band will participate in a national competition in Memphis, Tenn. in April.

“Each of the 48 students who participate in the national competition is being asked to pay his or her fee,” Stoop said. “Selling the Peebles coupon book is one opportunity to raise their money.”

The Peebles book includes coupons for 10 to 50 percent off on such items as fragrances, fashion denim, handbags, jewelry, boots, shirts, sweaters, sportswear and many other items.

“All of the money from the sale of the coupon books goes to the band for their trip,” Stoop said.

Coupon books are available from participating band students or by calling 566-0843.

Stoop said the band will also be selling Boston butts as a fundraiser.

“The Boston butts are $25 and may be picked up from 9 a.m. until noon on Nov. 22 in front of the high school,” she said.

Boston butts may be ordered by calling 566-0843 or 566-4019.

Stoop said the community’s support of these two fundraising projects will be greatly appreciated.
