According to Marsh’s uncle Jerry Gurski, Black was a friend of his nephews.

“They had been watching TV, and (Black) said he would take the trash out,” Gurski said. “He asked for a cup, and Brooks went to get him a cup. He handed it to him, and when he turned around, (Black) shot him.”

Gurski said after he was shot outside, Marsh ran into the house, where Black followed him and shot him a total of four times.

Gurski was not a witness to the shooting, but said another friend was at the house during the incident.

The case is still under investigation by the Troy Police Department, the Pike County Coroner and the 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

Black’s bond has been set at $100,000, with the condition 50 percent of his bond be paid in cash before his release. He has been transferred to the Pike County Jail.

Guski said Marsh’s family is asking for donations to a funeral fund, which has been set up through Thrash-Keahey Funeral Home in Brundidge.
