The Troy Police Department is investigating the murder of a 26-year-old man that occurred Monday night south of Troy.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. on Pike County Road 3309, according Troy Police Chief Anthony Everage.

The victim, described as a white male, was not identified in information released Monday night by police. Everage said due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, full details could not be released.

Police have identified a possible suspect and are following up on leads.

The Pike County District Attorney’s office and the Pike County Coroner are assisting in the investigation.
