When all four teams in the Pike County area take the field for the first round of the playoffs tomorrow, history will be taking place in front of everyone’s eyes.

There has never been a year when all four teams made the playoffs and that is such a great thing to be able to witness this year in my first year covering the football teams.

But with the playoffs comes the resetting of everything that matters. All teams in the playoffs are now 0-0.

It should be an interesting night of football on top of being a historic night for the area. The Charles Henderson Trojans and the Pike Liberal Arts School Patriots both host the first round and get the fireworks started on their home turf.

Both the Trojans and the Patriots take winning streaks into the playoffs, as CHHS has been victorious in their previous four contests and PLAS has won their previous three games to conclude the regular season.

With a 3-1 week last week in Nascone’s Predictions the season record stands at 28-10 heading into the playoffs.

The Troy University Trojans host Western Kentucky University for Homecoming this week and the Trojans will roll to a 45-20 victory over the Hilltoppers for a 6-3 record.

This week the Region 2 No. 2 seed Trojans host Region 1 No. 3 seed Citronelle at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. I believe the Trojans will continue their winning ways with a close 28-27 win over the Wildcats.

In the AISA, the Region 1 champion Patriots host Region 1 No. 4 seed Marengo at DeWight Ward Field at Delaney Kervin Stadium Friday night.

Both the Pike County Bulldogs and the Goshen Eagles hit the road for the first round. Pike County heads to Luverne for what should be another close battle.

The Bulldogs will continue their hot streak on the road with a 35-30 win over Luverne. Goshen will not move past the first round, falling 45-28 to the Tornadoes of Pickens County.
