Quincy Langston

Quincy B. Langston, 77, of Satsuma, passed away Monday, October 27, 2008 at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine following a brief illness. He was a native of Banks, Alabama, and resided in Satsuma since 1967. Prior to moving to Satsuma, he had lived in the Peniel and San Mateo communities. He worked 43 years at Georgia-Pacific, retiring as a control room operator. He was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church in San Mateo and a life member of Gopher Ridge Hunting Club. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and also was a farmer and rancher. In his later years, his greatest purpose in life was spending quality time with his family and serving the Lord through his service to the church.
He is survived by his wife, Althea (Audrey) Langston of Satsuma, 4 sons, Randy Britton Langston and wife, Traci, of Trenton, Terry Marlow Langston and wife, Elaine, of Satsuma, Bruce Darvin Langston and wife, Ilene, of Interlachen, and Quincy Darrell Langston and wife Debbie of Satsuma, 2 daughters, Althea Belinda Miller and husband, Tim, of St. Augustine, and Susan Langston Gilmore and husband, Tim, of Palatka, 2 brothers, Loyd V. Langston and wife Mildred, of Lake City, and Coy Langston and wife, Sharon, of Bountiful, Utah, 6 sisters, Rachel Newman of Troy, Alabama, Loraine Dunn and husband, George, of Pensacola, Wonell Brooks and husband, Luther, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Wonnie Gale and husband, James of Dothan, Alabama, Mary Edna Bennett of Palatka and Rosemond Kay Ladd and husband, Phillip, of Fort Collins, Colorado, 19 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in San Mateo with Rev. Leroy Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Palatka Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
